About Us

Harbour Design Studio works with private clients and developers with particular expertise in listed and heritage properties. Our work seeks to amplify the character of each building while responding thoughtfully to the individual aesthetic preferences and practical requirements of our clients. Grounded in architectural understanding and value awareness, we combine discipline and knowledge of craft with a creative and playful approach to deliver projects of enduring authenticity.

Studio Director, Rosie Caley, MA AA Dip Cons

Rosie has worked in interior architecture and design since graduating from the Architectural Association in 2007, specialising in the conservation and renovation of historic and period buildings. Before founding Harbour Design Studio, she spent many years as Design Director at OLBC Ltd, helping private clients create well-planned, carefully executed homes.

Rather than applying a single studio style, Rosie responds to each brief individually, designing interiors that reflect the client’s taste and lifestyle while remaining in harmony with the architecture of the property, whether period or contemporary.

Our Services

We will always begin by meeting you at home to understand your needs, priorities and expectations. From there, we can propose options for engagement, encompassing any or all aspects of design, including spatial planning, planning or listed building consents, construction drawings, technical specification, project management and furnishing procurement, according to your requirements, budget and timetable.

“Good design relies on understanding the client and anticipating potential challenges in advance. My role is to guide you clearly through the process, reduce uncertainty, and help deliver the outcome you want with as much ease and assurance as possible. Each project is a collaborative process built on clear communication and professionalism.” Rosie Caley, Studio Director

Architectural Design & Planning Consents

Following an initial brief, we explore options for spatial and interior layout, presenting plan proposals and advising on any planning or listed building consents that may be required.

At this stage, the scope of works is defined. Proposed alterations are considered in terms of both practical benefit and their impact on the character of the property, allowing informed decisions to be made before significant time and cost are committed to the design.

Once a preferred layout is agreed, we prepare full architectural drawings and supporting documentation, and manage the submission of planning and listed building applications. With extensive experience securing consents for a wide range of projects, including Listed buildings, we provide clear guidance through the process and maintain continuity from initial concept through to approval.

Project Specification & Management

This stage establishes the technical and practical foundations of the project, ensuring that design intent is carried through accurately to construction.

Each element is considered in detail, including dimensions, suitability, compatibility, availability and cost. Options are reviewed and resolved in advance, and a curated selection is presented for approval, allowing decisions to be made efficiently and with clarity.

We prepare comprehensive construction drawings, including detailed layouts for plumbing and electrical systems, tailored to the specific requirements of each project. This level of coordination reduces the risk of changes during construction and supports a controlled build process.

We can remain involved during implementation, providing oversight to ensure that the work on site reflects the agreed design and specification.

Interior Design & Installation

Continuing the collaborative approach, we will develop the interior scheme with your involvement - the level of our guidance is guided by your needs and preference. We will consider style, colour palette and finishes in the context of the architecture, natural light and use of each space.

Where appropriate, existing furniture and pieces can be incorporated into the scheme, ensuring continuity and a result that feels personal and considered.

Communication and interaction are structured to suit you. Design development may include digital presentations, physical sample boards and, where useful, visits to showrooms and suppliers to review materials and finishes in context.

Our procurement and installation service ensures a smooth experience in completing your project.
